CCIP v2.0.0 IMailbox API Reference

Summary

IMailbox defines the minimal interface for the Lombard Mailbox contract.

The Mailbox is responsible for:

Verifying bridge proofs
Executing the bridged message
Returning execution status and optional payload data

It is used by CCIP verifiers such as [LombardVerifier](/ccip/evm/api-reference/v2.0.0/lombard-verifier) during destination-side verification.

Verifies and executes a bridged message.

Returns:

bytes32 — Bridge-defined identifier (e.g., payload hash)
bool executed — Whether execution succeeded
bytes optionalMessage — Optional payload forwarded from source chain

Integration notes / expectations

Implementations must ensure proof verification correctness.
Consumers should validate executed == true before trusting returned data.
optionalMessage may contain verifier-specific metadata and must be validated by the calling contract.
